hi all, took dogs out for a walk today and saw 2 hobbys hunting over hall marsh scrape unfotunately every time they went down to get something they were behind the reeds so i didnt actually see them catch anything but it was great to see them flying right over my head so close i could clearly see their colouring and markings! then i saw a greater crested grebe trying to feed one of her young something so big it couldnt get half of in its mouth! mum gave up and ate it herself after a good 10 minutes! just thought id share it with you all. paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks for sharing! I love hobbys - they are fascinating! Its great to watch them hunt dragonflies - how they can catch and eat on the wing! We had about 9 this year over the reserve, which was nice!
Haha, brilliant - I bet watching the great crested grebe was fantastic!
