Highlights of New Year's Eve on the reserve

A quiet day on the reserve bird-wise but a good number of visitors.

The lagoon at the Draper Hide was completely frozen over and L2 (Tern) and L1 (Gadwall) partially so.

Pochard, Gadwall, Teal, Shoveler, Tufted Duck,, Mute Swan, Cormorant, Mallard, Black-headed Gull & Pintail (male)

L2 (Tern)
100+ Coot, 16 Mute Swans, Black-headed Gull, 2 Common Gulls. 1 Little Grebe

L1 (Gadwall)
2 Little Grebe, 20 Lapwing, 2 Pied Wagtail

KINGFISHER
A female Kingfisher was seen fairly regularly during the day. Another observer also saw a male between the turnstile and the Warbler hide.

ON THE TRAILS
2 Water Rail having a domestic quarrel on bridge 2
At dusk 1 Goldcrest near the turnstile and a family party of Long-tailed tits between bridge 3 and the Draper hide.
