Water Rail on Ice!
Had to get out after Christmas and on a glorious day was rewarded with something I've not seen before. Whilst watching the Female Kingfisher fishing, I was drawn to movement on the water's edge. A Water Rail was skulking and then got onto the ice before going up the bank. The closest I've got to one - and on ice! Picture attached. Saw it later and 2 Rails appeared in the distance. Not a bad morning with good sightings of the Kingfisher and Heron too.
