I had a lovely visit on Tuesday - thanks to everyone at the reserve. I had a great view of the grebes through a telescope, but they were too far away for me to get a decent photo. However, there were lots of other subjects:

Great set of photos. I especially like the close-up of the juv Reed Warbler.
Ladybirds don't leave exuviae as they go through complete metamorphosis, with a pupal stage between larva and adult. Your photo shows a ladybird pupa, the adult yet to emerge.
