Another fantastic day at Rye Meads - Visitors being treated to a female Marsh Harrier seen over the meadow and from the Draper Hide, She was a fantastic sight , the crows giving her a hard time and as she flew low over the meadow several snipe were seen flying off, also seen on the meadow 3 Heron, Little Egret Teal, and Shoveler,Green Sandpiper. At the visitor centre the Rye Meads ringing group showed visiors two Jack Snipe the had got for ringing, brilliant to see these birds close up and see the difference between them and the common snipe. At the Draper Hide - Redshank - Little Grebe - Pochard, Gadwall Hide - 2 Redshank -Snipe - Chiffchaff - Pied Wagtail - Shoveler - Gadwall - Teal - Shelduck - Lapwing - Little Ringed Plover - Stock Dove - Swan- Cormorant. Kingfisher Hide Kingfisher pair showing well - The male bringing the female fish - also the kestrel was in the top nest box again -. Also around on the reserve - Dunnock -Robin - Great tit - Blue tit - Pheasant -Greenfinch - Goldfinch and to finish a Great spotted woodpecker on the feeders.
