Welcome to our New Year Photographic Scavenger Hunt Competition. If you would like to enter one of your child’s photographs, you can upload it to this forum thread by replying to this post.

Prize winners will be chosen by judges comprising of reserve staff. Bloggers Choice will be chosen by the most number of likes.

Winners will be notified by private message which you will receive on your community account.

How to enter - Only adults can register and upload photographs.

  1. Register by clicking on the Register button at the top left of the screen.
  2. Log in and select Rye Meads.
  3. Click on the Forum button.
  4. Click on the New Year Photographic Scavenger Hunt thread.
  5. Click reply. Click on ‘use rich formatting’ which is located underneath the right hand corner of the reply text box. This will allow you to upload a photograph onto the forum.
  6. Click on the insert media button and insert your photo.
  7. Type in the letter and title of your photo, e.g. A-Apple
  8. Select Tags: Rye Meads photo
  9. Get all your friends and family to look at the Scavenger Hunt forum and vote for their favourite picture.

New Year Photographic Scavenger Hunt Photography Competition rules

Rules

  • Pictures must be taken at RSPB Rye Meads nature reserve
  • The competition is open to UK residents only under 16 years of age
  • Pictures must not have been entered into other photographic competitions
  • Amateur photographers only
  • Any RSPB employee or their immediate family will be ineligible to enter
  • No wildlife or habitats should be harmed, put at risk, or unduly disturbed in the process of taking photographs. Further guidance is available at: http://www,rpsnaturegroup.com/page7.htm 
  • The detail of the photograph should not be altered, i.e. removing an insect from a bird’s beak
  • Full copyright title remains with the author/owner.  Please see full terms below regarding your entry and potential use of.
  • Winners will be asked to submit original files
  • Entries must be submitted by 11.59 pm 31th January 2014. Late entries will not be accepted
  • Entrants under 18 must have parental or legal guardian consent prior to entering the competition
  • All entries to be submitted on the Rye Meads community page: http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/placestovisit/ryemeads/default.aspx 
  • All entries will be on public view on the RSPB Rye Meads community page
  • The RSPB accepts no responsibility for entries which are lost or corrupted during upload
  • We cannot judge any pictures whose details have been entered incorrectly
  • The judge’s decision on all matters affecting this competition is final and legally binding
  • No correspondence regarding the results will be entered into
  • We regret pictures cannot be returned to entrants.
  • The results, winner’s name, county, will be published on the RSPB website.
  • Prizes will be delivered within 28 days of the closing date
  • There is no cash alternative to the competition prize
  • Any winner who has not responded to notification within 21 days will forfeit their prize; a replacement winner will be selected from other entrants.

Uses

The RSPB may retain your contribution and may choose to display your entry on a website. The RSPB may also publish your contribution in other media; where possible we will approach you directly to confirm your permission for publication. The RSPB reserves the right to remove contributions that it considers to be contrary to the spirit of the terms and conditions of submission, including submissions it considers to be objectionable or that violate copyright. The RSPB reserves the right to edit and alter submissions.

Terms and Conditions

By submitting your contribution to the RSPB you agree to be legally bound by these terms and conditions;

Full copyright title shall be retained by the Author of any submissions.  By submitting any contribution to the RSPB, you agree to grant the RSPB a perpetual royalty free licence to use any or all of the contributions in any of their publications, on the website and/or in any promotional material.  Permission will be sought and the Author credited where possible.  Any contribution provided will be non-confidential and in accordance with privacy restrictions set out in the RSPB’s Privacy Policy.

Any contribution must be your own original work, it must not infringe the rights of third parties including copyright, trade mark, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights;

If your contribution features other people who are recognisable, you are responsible for ensuring that you have their permission for the contribution to be treated according to the uses set out above. Contributions featuring children under 18 can only be accepted if you are the parent or guardian; by accepting these terms and conditions you warrant that you are the parent or guardian and that you grant permission for the contribution to be treated according to the uses set out above.

The RSPB’s rights in relation to your contribution

Publication of your contribution will be at the RSPB’s sole discretion;

The RSPB reserves the right to edit, adapt, move or delete any contribution accepted. We will try to credit authors where possible, but may not always do so;

Save as expressly provided for in these terms neither the RSPB nor its trading subsidiary(ies) shall be liable for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage or for any costs, claims or demands of any nature whatsoever arising directly or indirectly out of the use of your contribution or any part thereof;

From time to time, the RSPB may run competitions, free prize draws and promotions in connection with its conservation work. In each case these will be subject to additional competition terms which will be made available at the appropriate time.

These Terms and Conditions (as amended from time to time) constitute the entire agreement between you and the RSPB concerning your contribution to “Photographic Scavenger Hunt competition”. The RSPB reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time and any updated version will be effective as soon as it is published on the Website.

The RSPB takes your privacy very seriously; we will only use your personal information in accordance with the terms of our Privacy Policy.
