Another lovely day on the reserve - so much to see A fantastic start as we walked along the first boardwalk we saw a Water Vole who happily sat munching on the reeds in full view for a few minutes before diving under the water and vanishing - turned around to look through the letterbox opening to see another Water Vole just in front of us fantastic close up view a real treat, he headed off towards the apples before he got spooked by us. Draper Hide Single Snipe, quite a few could be seen flying over Stock Dove - Teal - Shoveler - Gadwall Coot - Moorhen - Canada Geese Little Grebe with a juvenile Red Admiral Lagoon one Cormorant - Tufted Duck - Heron Little Grebe - Swan Ashby Hide Heron - residing on his usual tree Jay - Little Grebe Tern Hide As we arrived at the hide there were lots of snipe as we sat down the whole lagoon took flight a Sparrowhawk the most likely culprit a brief view Heron - Cormorant Teal - Gadwall-Shovelar Swan - Coot - Moorhen - Green Sandpiper - Little Grebe - Black Headed Gull Grey Wagtail - Pied Wagtail Widgeon - Trails Lots of mixed flocks - Long tailed tits- Great Tits - Blue tits Warbler Hide seemed quiet at first but as we waited Lots of snipe flying in and out of the meadow several Jays Buzzards sitting on posts, pylon and flying over the meadow providing good views Numbers of small birds flying out of the reeds? Dragonflies including Common Darter and Hawker Kestrel Hunting Peacock Butterfly
