Kingfishers fledged at last!

Cancelled golf and took a chance - very lucky to see another fledging! Within 15 minutesof arriving, they started to come out - don't think any had come out before that. The adult male was looking after them, the female seemed to be in the new nest most of the time - except for a few more matings!

Saw 5 come out by lunchtime and that seemed to be it, no more calling out. At the end of the day only one fledgling remained in pond area - it seemed reluctant to fly out. Three of them went out fairly quickly following the male but we had good sights of them being fed and coming close. The adult male was performing very well and close to hide. Good to see people and particularly children seeing this for the first time. Weather could have been better for pics but what a treat to witness!

Thought I'd better share this information and a few pics and look forward to the next brood. It's only a bridge camera but it captures the essence - was also taking video clips. If anyone wants copies, just let me know. Particularly those there who didn't have a camera.
