What an unfortunate day.....  a succession of driving squalls of rain and hail terrorised the reserve throughout the day bringing with them severely gusting winds that sent leaves flying and Swifts hurtling enthusiastically in all directions.

Very Swift (Jo Collins)

There really was very little else to to report although a Greenshank was on the Target Pools and both sets of Bearded Tits were amazingly seen....

The Insect Afternoon had no hope of going out in such conditions and from the reports I was getting we would have seen very little in the way of invertebrates....

Jo Collins found these two Seven Spot Ladybirds on the boardwalk..... one of them had found something to hang onto in the wind..... ;o)

Dawn Chorus is still on tomorrow so hope to see those of you who have booked at 0400 sharp for a walk round with Andrew, our Site Manager followed by breakfast.  Keep your fingers crossed that the wind drops and the rain holds off as promised by the BBC.....
