Morning,
How are you?

I just wanted to share some of the wildlife highlights from the last couple of days.

Waders have included:
Curlew sandpiper (Shooting Butts Hide looking at the Target Pools), little stint (Shooting Butts Hide looking at the Target Pools), ruff, dunlin, water rail (from the Marshland Discovery Zone), ringed plover, blacktailed godwitlapwing, redshank, snipe, and curlew.

The numbers of wildfowl are building up - we have had great views of pintail, teal, wigeon, gadwall, mallard, shelduck, pochard, and garganey.

Birds of prey have included marsh harrier, barn owl (in the box), kestrel, sparrowhawk, buzzard, and peregrine.

The kingfisher has been seen flying over the ditches all over the reserve - keep an eye out for flashes of blue whizzing past!

On the wet grassland areas on the reserve and Serin Mound - stonechat, meadow pipit, skylark, linnet, and wheatear have all been seen.

The bearded tits are still being seen and heard at the Dragonfly Pools.

There is a number of butterflies still showing including a clouded yellow butterfly at the turnstile.

On warmer sunny days we are seeing the common lizards soaking up some rays!

Two ravens flew over the reserve and past the Visitor Centre this morning (7 October) so keep an eye and an ear out for them.

Enjoy your walks everyone!
