It seemed like we were knee deep in Wheatears today with a fantastic 22 out on the marsh. However the star bird was a Grasshopper Warbler that was seen reeling madly from along side the trails on and off during the day. Andy Tweed even managed to get a shot of this elusive summer visitor.

  • Yesterday was my fourth visit to Rainham when I also got this classic view of the Reeler, but thru my scope rather than a camera. Nearly missed its song due to the excellent sedge warbler-every-3 yards experience! Each of my visits so far has been memorable - Garganey and waxwings last time and my first water voles since the 1970s yesterday.
