At long last Rainham Marshes has attracted another huge rarity in the shape of an elegantly leggy White-tailed Plover. This extreme vagrant has only been seen here on five previous occasions before today and is already drawing a huge crowd of admirers.
All these lovely pictures taken by Sam Shippey who first picked the bird up before showing me in teh scope. Needlessto say I am a very happy bunny this afternoon!

Dipped out myself after hitting traffic on the Kent side of Dartford Crossing. Could and should of put in more effort to get there. Magnificent to hear Rainham coming up trumps yet again. Congratulations to all who saw it and made the effort...and the staff for staying open yet again its much appriciated.

Yes, what a day. I was manning reception when Howard radioed in to say that it would soon get busy, how true. When I left at 17.00 we had nearly 400 visitors and the bird was still visible. What a stunner!
How lovely of it to arrive on my birthday !!! Gutted I never got chance to see it though. Well done to all those who did manage a sighting.
