Our spring is still giving us little treats and the last few days have been no exception.... more to come later but suffice to say that the Comon Crane found by our Site Manager, Andrew Gouldstone (he is on a roll at the moment) yesterday was a much anticipated and appreciated find.

I made it from my home to the bird in record time and thankfully it stayed all day, feeding out in the lush meadows out on Wennington Marsh.  At times you could only see the head and neck and it looked like some sort of wierd canada Goose from a distance!

Karl Price

This is only the third record for the site with the others coming in 1957 and 1982 so it was long overdue a visit!

It was still present at dusk and it was no real suprise that it was still aruond this morning too and at a little after 11am it spiralled up into the blue and after ten minutes thrermalling it headed north west slowly out of view...
