Today saw the arrival of yet another amazing bird with a ridiculouly leggy Black-winged Stilt elegantly strutting around on the pools infront of the centre all day. This rare visitor from the Med certainly brightened up our day. It had spent the previous day on the Isle of Wight before touching down with us. This is the second time that this species has been seen here with the last being as long ago 1997. I have posted a couple of shots in the gallery but more can be seen at www.elbf.co.uk

The first Whitethroats and reed Warbler were scratching away yesterday and House and Sand martins as well as a few Swallows drifted through. Four bright Yellow Wagtails were with the cattle and both Marsh Harrier and Buzzard moved north. The warmth brought out a wealth of insects including Peacock, Comma and Small Tortoiseshell. Water Voles popped out and the Marsh Frogs definitely got going.
