Earlier in the week the Tall Ships headed up river for a few days before setting out on the Round the World Race.

One or two have already snuck out but apparently the bulk of the vessels will be leaving the City late morning on sunday 1st September and should be at the reserve by early afternoon!  If you know any better or have any more info please can you post a comment on here for others to read please!

Our stretch of the River Thames wall offers excellent views at various angles so come on down, bring a chair and get yourself a coffee and slab of cake and watch the show!

  • The race is the Clipper Round the World Race starting today from St Katharines Dock www.clipperroundtheworld.com 12 identical 70ft yachts sailing round the world. There will be a 'parade of sail' down the Thames to the estuary. They are estimated to be at the thames barrier at 14.40 and QE2 Bridge at 16.00 so will pass Rainham Marshes some time in between. You can watch live streaming on the website
