With a bit of sunshine this morning, one of our wintering Robins along the sea wall took the opportunity to seranade the day in meloncholy style. Although he sat right up on top for some time, he would not let me get that close in true continental style. As soon as I turned my back he would reappear.

Plenty of waders on the foreshore both side of the Thames including many Redshank, Dunlin and Lapwing but still no Godwits. Eight Curlew were probing and 11 Ringed Plover were new for the year for me as were singles of Common Sandpiper and Grey Plover. The Spotted Redshank was seen in flight with his commoner cousins on the Kent side.

Spent some time checking 14 Rock Pipits on the tideline.  Very variable. I am still looking for that first Buff-bellied Pipit.... One Water Pipit, several Meadows and a couple of Reed Buntings added interest.

The Ross's Goose is back on the pools with the Greylags and 45 Golden Plover did circuits.

More later... I hope...
