With food in such short supply were we all still surprised to see that the wintering (and probably our local) Song Thrushes have still been able to find hibernating snails under the cover of snow and ice.  They have often been reported flying across the car park and around the edges of the wildlife garden carrying a snail ready to give it a good bashing on a rock!
