Now things have moved on somewhat since this morning and several sightings today of this brute of a gull have led to the all important flight shots being taken and at just before 10pm tonight the news went out that the bird was indeed a Slaty Backed Gull! I shall go through some pointers when I get the chance but Dominic's blog link posted earlier is still the most helpful.

Tomorrow now looks to become somewhat hectic but I am sure we can cope. The instructions put up by me in the earlier post still stand but I would strongly recommend any visiting birders to park in the main reserve car park rather than try and squeeze in at the Barges, and walk west for about a mile and a half.
I will be opening the gates at 0700 for all those early birders.
And yes I have now seen the bird but that is a story in itself (with some interesting photos!) and I shall post that when things have calmed down a little!
Good luck to everyone tomorrow!
