What a week it has been, it's whizzed past - it's Hen Harrier Day tomorrow already!

Let's start with a few recent wildlife highlights:

  • Bearded tit are still showing nicely on the Northern Boardwalk.
  • Waders have included black-tailed godwit, ruff, dunlin, green sandpiper and little ringed plover on Aveley Flash.
  • Swift, swallow, house martin and cuckoo have been flying overhead.
  • Yellow legged gulls are on the River.
  • Wasp spiders are around, and some willow emerald damselflies have been seen in the woodland.

It’s arrived – tomorrow is Hen Harrier Day 2018.

The event begins at 11am, in the Marquee field. The reserve opens from 8am.



With Hen Harrier day happening tomorrow the cafe is offering a special breakfast option. A Deluxe Breakfast Roll offer for our morning visitors (available until 11am, when the rally will begin).

A freshly baked crusty white baguette with fried onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and either bacon/sausage/vegetarian sausage filling! Served with either a tea or filter coffee for £6.50, grab yours tomorrow morning!
