Hello!
We are in need of some pond dippers and chatters! If you like talking to people, or pond dipping then this could be for you...
We are looking for people to help at family activities during the school holidays - you get to spend the day working with families, pond dipping (or searching for minibeasts, or a whole host of other fun family activities) which is a lot of fun and very rewarding. If you're keen to give all these activities a go (we'll train you in everything) that's great, or if you'd prefer to just focus on your favorite activity and nothing else, e.g. pond dipping, making fat cakes for birds or looking for minibeasts, then that's fine with us too.
Have fun, enjoy meeting new people, be a part of our friendly reserve team. Learn new skills, learn more about the wildlife at Rainham. Dip in and out, whenever you've got the time if you're parent then it could be a lovely opportunity to volunteer with your children. Though non-parents welcome too of course!
We are also looking for some chatters: we need some help in our visitor centre - chatting to visitors, giving out maps, and showing people wildlife. We want people to help us talk to our visitors, as we want ot make sure that everyone has a great time when they visit. This flexible role will let you choose what you want to do and when! If it's busy in a certain area of the centre go there, if it's quiet you can decide to go out and show people wildlife! We can train you in everything you need to know beforehand and you don't need to be a bird expert. Just have a passion for nature and wildlife.
If either of these sound interesting to you let me know - louise.moss@rspb.org.uk
If you are interested in volunteering, but these aren't quite the roles for you there are lots of different options on the RSPB website - www.rspb.org.uk/volunteering You can search by area and type of volunteering role, there are lots of different options for you. All of Rainham's current volunteering opportunities are on there, as well as all the other wonderful RSPB reserves.
