The undoubted highlight for many today on a very wet and murky reserve was the slightly peculiar sight of a man in a wetsuit and hi-viz vest standing on a surfboard and paddling up river on the incoming tide. Not only did he have many very large boats for company but he had also attracted the attention of three Harbour Porpoises that followed him inquisitively. At one stage he put down his oar and took a camera out of his rucksack to capture the moment!

The only thing that sprung to mind was that he was lucky that Bob the eight foot Grey Seal did not come and investigate as he has a penchant for things splashing around on the surface!

A few waders in the gloom over another very high tide with about 100 Redshank, one each of Greenshank and Spotted Redshank, 12 Curlew, 30 Golden Plover and a Ruff pushed up as the waters rose.
