Many moons ago on one of the early wildfowl (WeBS) counts, long before we opened to the public, Mike Dent and I were out counting ducks on a very wet and boggy Wennington Marsh. On that cold January day, Mike attempted to cross and particularly muddy patch and promptly sunk in and left both his wellies (and a sock I believe) behind for future archaeologists to discover and ponder over their ancient origins.  A long walk back with no shoes ensued....

Now, fast forward 12 years to yesterday and Andrew, our enthusiastic Site Manager is also out of Wennington and suffers excatly the same fate. Luckily his lackey Mr Robinson (any excuse to get out of the office nowadays!) transported a shiny new pair of wellies to the Dragonfly Pool to greeted by a very wet and muddy man... oh and it was his birthday...

I wonder what the half-life of a green pair of Hunters is?
