Our Moth Night of Friday evening was a great success despite a drizzly start but it was warm and overcast and we attracted a good selection of species including: 2 Jersey Tigers, 4 Webb's Wainscot,  Bullrush Wainscot, Pale Tussock,  Willow Beauty, Least yellow Underwing, BBY Underwing, 5 LBBY Underwing, Brimstone, Yellow Shell, Bramble Shoot, Common Footman, Flame Shoulder, Common Rustic, 15 Mother of Pearl, Tree Lichen Beauty, Yellow Barred Brindle, Copper Underwing

They Jersey Tigers were much appreciated and an Elephant Hawkmoth stunned the visitors!

Jersey Tiger (Howard Vaughan)

Ruby Tiger (Paul Hawkins)

This very smart Forest Bug was also attracted to the light and three Glow Warms were seen on the walk back after midnight

  • I really enjoyed it too, and saw my first glow worms on the walk back to the car as well. Husband did enjoy it but not as much as I did....and not sure he was that impressed when I laid reading my new moth identification book in bed the next night :o)

Done the Gull Workshop, Done the Moth night....whats next?

Life may not be the party we hoped for...................but we might as well dance
