Hello!

How are you today?

We have set up a regular toddlers group - Little Lapwings!

Every Monday during term time pre-schoolers can get outside and have fun while learning! We'll be exploring nature in a thousand ways from minibeast hunting to crafts and natural play. It's muddy, it's mucky, it's heaps of fun and our sessions link to early learning goals too. The reserve is fully accessible so everyone can join in.

The group meet every Monday during term time, 9.30-10.30 am and it's only £1 for RSPB members (£2 for non-members). You don't have to book, you can just turn up - we'll be here! For more details have a look here.

We are also looking for some volunteers to help leading these sessions - can you help children to discover the thrill of finding their first ladybird or the joy of jumping in a muddy puddle? Our Little Lapwings club aims to connect young children and their carers with weekly fun, hands-on nature activities and we need volunteers who can enthuse children about the natural world to make a real difference inspiring little ones to care for and learn more about the natural world.

We are looking for people to help lead on delivering a 1 - 1.5 hour session with toddlers, preschoolers and their parents or carers. Typical activities include minibeast hunting, mud pie making, story-telling and songs all built around a short walk outdoors on our beautiful reserve. You're part of a team so we're flexible on time commitment and if you don't feel ready to lead a group we need helpers too! You can fit volunteering around your family life - this role is during school hours and term-time only! You don't need to be have worked with children before, you just need abundant enthusiasm and a natural ability to communicate your passion for nature to children and families.
