Only one bird species is attracting any attention at the moment and it is the Bearded Tits with several family parties showing incredibly well down by the Dragonfly Pools where they have been visiting the grit table and performing acrobatics on the dragonfly sculptures, hand rails and metal fences.
Everyone has come back smiling and no wonder given the quality of the images popping up on Facebook and such like!

These little orange gems aside there has been a slow trickle of waders through including Green Sandpiper, Greenshank, Curlew and Whimbrel and thankfully after over 12 hours of rain last night there is some water on the scrapes again hopefully more wader will be been attracted down to feed.

The Marsh Harriers have been putting on a fine display and yesterday a Hobby hunted at eye level right in front of the visitors centre!

Until the weather turned yesterday evening it had been very hot and sultry and insects were the order of the day too with Clouded Yellow, Marbled White, Brown Argus and fresh Common Blues on the wing.

Kev Harper found a stunning Red-tipped Clearwing moth on Sunday which was very much appreciated!
Water Voles have been showing quite well and Nick Lay snapped this cute little youngster on his last visit
