It was not a bad day out on the reserve with a fair selection of waders over the high tide late in the afternoon including 2 Black Tailed Godwits, 2 Avocet , 3 Green Sandpiper, 7 Redshank, 5 Greenshank, 3 Common Sandpiper, 4 Oystercatcher, 4 Whimbrel, Ruff and 5 Snipe. Purfleet Scrape seems the best bet although the waters are dropping on Aveley now so fingers crossed. Perhaps we shall get the Collared Pratincole that has now left RSPB Minsmere?  The Bearded Tits were not as obliging today but were still to be found on the Northern Trail and Dragonfly Pool areas while both juvenile Marsh Harriers were seen tangling up over the Silt Lagoons....

However, star of the day was avian but insectoidal with a superb Blue-eyed Hawker being found by the ever sharp Jerry Hoare in front of the Ken Barrett Hide late this afternoon....

Oh and before I forget, we are a bit short tomorrow and with various volunteers being on holiday in far flung localtions there will be no Wednesday Walk.... sorry
