Robyn has written us a blog about a brand new Active in Nature activity... take it away Robyn:
Back to Nature Bootcamp – brand new fitness sessionsWant to get fit but don’t want to join a gym? Join our new boot camp session on the reserve! What to expect?Using a mix of highly effective body weight exercises to get your heart pumping and burn some calories, we want to help you feel healthier and reach your fitness goals. The sessions are designed to use games and challenges to keep it fun and exciting. It is up to you how hard you push yourself, but the exercises will try and bring out a little competitive side in you!The boot camp is for anyone and everyone! We aim to get to know every participant so we can help you with specific goals along the way. There is no need for any previous fitness experience or knowledge and we try to use minimal equipment too. The sessions are held in the adventure playground on the reserve so you’ll be exercising in a fantastic outdoor setting which also has proven benefits to mental health. Taking a leisurely warm down stroll back to the centre to take in some of the amazing views of the reserve, it’s a great way to get to know some new people and perhaps even staying for a cup of tea and snack in our café. The session is on the reserve and some exercises will involve being on the ground, but it’s all part of the fun so embrace the mud (Bear it in mind when choosing what to wear though). Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like more information by emailing robyn.smith@rspb.org.uk Every Saturday (May-August) at 10amPrices: £6.50 per session (£5 for members) or buy a block of 5 sessions for £25 (£20 for members)
What else is coming up for Active in Nature:Back to Nature Boot Camp: If you haven’t heard yet, we have a brand new boot camp session on every Saturday at 10am! Uptake for new sessions can be slow so if you can pass on information to anyone you think may be interested that would be great! The sessions will be varied and adaptable to all fitness levels, so come along to feel a bit fitter and stronger!Rainham Harriers Social Run: Every Sunday we run at 9.30am, each week we run as far as we would like to and as far as participants feel they are able, so if you would like to join a friendly bunch of people to run with please join us! And we may even have a little chat with some cake after as we earn it!Guided Social Rides: The next social ride is Saturday 26th May at 2pm. Bike hire subject to availability or bring your own bike! These guided social rides aim to show off more of the surrounding landscape and will focus on different aspects of the reserve each time. The theme of this ride will be announced in next week’s round up.If you would like information on any of the above or prices please go to https://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves-and-events/reserves-a-z/rainham-marshes/ and find the activities and events page or email me on robyn.smith@rspb.org.uk
