Friday October 12 sightings

Sorry it's a bit late (in fact it is almost Saturday) but just a quite sightings update to encourage you to visit at the weekend...

• RSPB Rainham Marshes: Cattle Egret (David Keane, PRH, BS) 3 Wigeon, 12 Pintail, Sparrowhawk, 2 Marsh Harrier, Buzzard, 3 Avocet, 4 Curlew, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, Ruff, 2 Snipe, 2 Barn Owl, Kestrel, Jay, 7 Stonechat (PRH) Black Redstart, Little Egret, 65 Lapwing, Ruff, Common Sandpiper, 3 Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Barn Owl, 15 Skylark, Rock Pipit, 2 Stonechat, 8 Redwing, 13 Cetti's Warbler, 5 Chiffchaff, Raven (Andrew Self) 2 Bearded Tits, Buzzard (ASh) Swallow (HTV)
• Walthamstow Reservoirs (Lockwood): f Wheatear still at 11am (LB)
• Lee Valley, Amwell NR: Barnacle Goose, Mediterranean Gull, 2 Raven (Barry Reed)

Cattle Egret is still strutting his stuff and the increased water is encouraging the Curlews to come in to roost at high tide.

And Bearded Tits have been superb of late - even today in the wind...

And have been using the grit table put out near the Dargonfly Pool

oh and Caroline has been making some superb beef chilli to go with a jacket spud for the weekend menu if you are peckish...
