This morning we had our first Dawn Chorus Walk!
Dawn over the reserve taken this morning...
Ivor, one of the attendees told us about his highlights: "fabulous dawn chorus walk this morning. Bit fresh to start but serenaded all through the woodland by song thrush, blackcap, robin, blackbird and loudest of all cuckoo. Stunning display by the barn owl in the early morning mist then as the sun came up close encounters with reed, sedge and cettis warblers and a very posy skylark. And back in time for breakfast!"
The barn owl was definitely a favorite - everyone mentioned how amazing it was! A marsh harrier flew over head, and the group not only heard but saw the cuckoo. The marsh frogs did their best to ad their voices to the chorus as well.
There are still a couple spaces on our second Dawn Chorus Walk on Sunday 13 May, 4-7 am. If you would like to come along give us a call on 01708 899840 to book your place.
