Glance up in the corner or any room (except probably my Mum's....) and you may see a dangling cobweb belonging to a very familiar denizen of the indoor world....

The Daddy Long Legs spider (Pholcus phalangioides) is an expert at just hanging around waiting for something to blunder into its sticky ineffectual looking silk strands.  This goes for all other house spiders including the big Tegenarias which it kills stone dead by biting them between the legs joints where there is a soft spot where the sections flex!

Our centre is home to countless numbers of these and Annie found a mother and her mini-me offspring in the store cupboard the other day! I am sure they will track down plenty to eat!

The happy single-mum family...... (Annie Jackson)
