Pearls have been doing a great job in tweaking the MDZ and Purfleet Scrapes this week.  The former needed a little re-profiling and the removal of some of the encroaching sedges as well as a nice long-arm grab to remove a section of the reeds that will now allow you to view the scrapes from the actual MDZ\rather than only from outside or the river wall.

Meanwhile, similar work out on the Purfleet Scrape is designed to thwart the spread of Flowering Rush and to take out some of the similar sedge encroachment.  With any luck this should bring duck and Snipe closer to the hide and offer some shallower muddy edges.

Onto the Butts Hide next week (no disturbance this weekend) where we have drawn down the water level so that even more of that beautiful but problematic rush can be reached....
