Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know something that is coming soon!

As of Saturday 9 December 2017 you have the chance to hire out the brand new photographers hide!

We have a purpose built hide allowing close views of feeding woodland birds. There is a feeding station in the area to attract birds and a number of natural perches so you can get some lovely shots!

John Humble has taken these pictures of a great tit and goldfinch in the last few days in the area! There has been lots of finches, tits and other birds showing nicely!

  • Hello everyone, thank you for your feedback.

We have four feeding stations around the centre and in the woodland that all our visitors can view.

This hide has been designed and built onsite by our volunteers that have used some wood that we had. We have had requests from photographers to have somewhere to photography woodland birds without disturbing other members of the public - this is a trial for us so we will be monitoring it to see how it goes.

The hide can take up to two people - the cost is for upto two people using the hide.

    Thanks,

    Louise

  • If I’m correct the extortunate cost is for per person, as in my opinion it should be free for all RSPB members wherther a photographer with a camera or someone with binoculars. It shouldn’t just be for photographers paying an extortunate rate. It should be free for all paid up members of the RSPB. I know some other RSPB members who agree with me.

    Regards,

    Ian.

  • Are those prices for each person or for the entire hide and how many people can comfortably fit in the hide, please?

  • I’ve posted a number of times on this subject of photographers hides on a least 2 threads in these forums and I don’t believe in photographers bird hides where members and the public pay an extortionate large fee to get access to these hides for a much closer up view of Birds. I think as RSPB members we should be allowed to use these hides at no extra charge as RSPB members have already paid there subscription for an annual membership or like myself paid to become a Life member of the RSPB and RSPB members should be allowed access to all bird hides with close up views of Birds and other wildlife without having to pay an extra large amount of money to view birds at close quarters. I feel very strongly and very annoyed about this subject.

    Regards,

    Ian.
