At the moment we have had quite a few Whinchats passing through the marsh and sometimes they can be quite approachable as they perch up on wires to look for an insect snack. In these pictures youo will see the big pale supercillium (the stripe above the eye) and the white patches at the tail sides that separate this species from the Stonchats that will arrive in October for the winter.
