Yesterday we were visted by Olympic commentator Clare Balding who was on the marsh to record for her BBC Radio 4 series, Ramblings.

Sam West,  (stage actor best known for his film and TV roles, which include memorable performances in Howards End) the son of actors Prunella Scales and Timothy West, is a regular visitor to the site and knows it well.   It provides a suitably wild and contradictory setting for exploring his life experiences.

They got lucky and the early part of their visit was claer and bright with finches on the move and plenty of duck moving between the pools. Even the huge drenching downpour at the end did not seem to dampen their enthusiasm.

'Ramblings with Sam West' will be broadcast on BBC R4, Thursday 11th October at 3pm, repeated the Saturday after at 0610am. It can be downloaded as a podcast after transmission.

Look forward to hearing it myself and you never know there may even be guest appearance from a volunteer or two!
