Not quite as nice as yesterday with more cloud cover but there was still lots to be seen including, on the bird front, three Whimbrel, 2 Avocets and the Bearded Tits again while visitors found some good invertebrates.

Jan Luscombe came in and showed me a photo of a male Vapourer moth that she had found in her home nearby which went nicely with the funky caterpillar that we saw yesterday while Sam Garland and his friend found a Garden Tiger moth and a huge Emperor moth caterpillar.

Vapourer - you can tell it is the male because it has feathery antenna and WINGS!  The female is lacking the latter! (Jan Luscombe)

The punky Vapourer Cat - (Mark Hart)

The best was still to come with another phone snapped moth in the Cordite store turned out to be a splendid Jersey Tiger moth; our first this year!

Garden Tigers by Sam Garland and Brenda Clayton and Emp Cat by Sam's friend Alfie

And last but not least a dedicated pair or entomologically minded regulars spent the day looking for their very first Wasp Spider and succeeded in the grass near the Ken Barrett Hide.  Photos of this and the Garden Tiger tomorrow I hope!
