Just to let visitors know that the 'Black Wood' section of the reserve (including Hail's View) on the wooded-heathland trail will be closed on Wednesday 29 & Thursday 30 November.
This area will be closed for a few days whilst we complete some tree work in the woodland. We'll be removing some of the invasive sycamore trees to allow more light through the canopy for the benefit of the wildflowers beneath (this is my favourite area in spring for bluebells, greater stitchwort, violets & wood sorrel).
This will also encourage some of the younger oak trees to ensure we have some great veteran oaks for the future.
We'll be re-opening Black Wood and the viewpoint once the work is complete.
Coming soon... Phil's report from from Friday featuring a stunning hen harrier!
