Over the weekend we'll be showcasing some of our most elusive creatures - reptiles!
On Saturday we'll be running a couple of short rambles going off in search of some incredible reptiles. We'll be taking you to areas of the reserve that are not normally open to the public and looking carefully for snakes, lizards and whatever other creatures we can find, The walk is likely to last about 30 minutes. Sensible shoes and long trousers are recommended as we'll be searching close to prickly brambles.
Times: 10.30 am and 3 pm Booking is not necessary however numbers will be limited to 20 people on each walk. Sign up at the Visitor Centre welcome desk.
On Sunday, we're running a 'Deadly Heathlands' event with the South Downs National Park Authority as part of the Heathlands Reunited project. We'll be joined for the day by the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust who will be ready to tell visitors all about our wonderful amphibians and reptiles and you'll also have chance to meet some of the creatures up close. The team will be set up in our Wildlife Explorer meadow between 11 am and 3.30 pm so you can pop in and say hello.
If you would like to join us on the main Deadly Heathlands event we'll be exploring our reptile refuge area, looking for some of our heathland superheroes such as dashing dragonflies, splendid spiders, ruby-tailed wasps and chirping crickets. Booking is essential for this event which takes place on Sunday from 2 pm til 4 pm.
