The summer holidays have come to an end and we are welcoming in a new season and new month. I don't dare say the C-word just yet (it's still feeling pretty warm out there), but some of you more organised folk may have already started thinking about buying gifts for your loved ones. For those fans of wildlife and the great outdoors, a pair of binoculars makes a very thoughtful gift that will last for many years. Of course, if you really love someone and they have been extra specially good this year, a telescope would go down very well indeed.

If you're thinking "yes, what a great idea!" then you'll want to get yourself down to one of our Binocular and Telescope Open Weekends. We'll have our friendly optics experts in the centre who will be happy to answer any questions you have about our range of binoculars and telescopes, and you'll have the chance to try the out our full range before you make your purchase. The first of these optics events runs this weekend, 1 & 2 September, from 10 am until 4 pm, then 6 & 7 October, 3 & 4 November, 24 & 25 November and finally 15 & 16 December. You can find full details of these events on our website here: https://ww2.rspb.org.uk/reserves-and-events/events-dates-and-inspiration/events/details.aspx?id=tcm:9-408440
If the thought of doing some early festive shopping isn't enough to tempt you down to the reserve, how about the promise of a bargain? I posted last month about the special price we're currently offering on our range of RSPB WPG binoculars and I'm pleased to say this is still running. The WPG range sits neatly in the middle of our full optics selection and is an excellent choice if you’re looking for something lightweight and suitable for general travel and leisure, and when you purchase any model from the range, you will get £50 off the full price.
