Happy New Year!

I'd like to wish everybody who shares this forum a Happy New Year. I'll post a couple of recent photos to keep the ball rolling!

  • That was me David! I had a quick look there and went up to the sea wall and back round.

  • Lovely photos John, thanks for sharing. All the best to you and yours for 2015. Hopefully we will have a good forum this year with lots of blethers etc. At this moment I have noticed that there are 49 online, looks promising.

  • But will they join in the chat. Come on guys.

  • "... come on guys",

    Hi guys,

Happy new year to all. I am one of the "silent watchers" on this list, ever since my one post that led to the identification of the "Robin's pincushion gall" found in the NW last summer. I really enjoy following the sightings and seeing the latest photos from the experts. However I fear that my iphone camera adds nothing to the quality you are posting here, even for seeking a "what's that bird?" enquiry.

I've been going to the wetlands maybe once a month since soon after they opened and am still hoping to catch a clear view of the bearded tits, discussing with the RSPB staff when and where, but still without success. Often have more joy spotting something new out at the Goldcliff scrapes, and I adore the avocets, waders and all the rest. I carry on with anticipation, and as ever enjoying the circuit walks.

  • Well done Steve, nice to hear from you. It isn't just for pictures although these keep the forum ticking over and it doesn't matter what the pictures are taken with it isn't a perfection forum. We have a facility here for letting others have the benefit of your experience, for instance as often as I visit the place I am still looking to find fungi, maybe someone knows a little spot where there is some.

I had never heard of "Robin's pincushion gall" until last summer, thanks, but now I see it in lots of places and can pass this information on to others.

  • Hello Steve and welcome. I am on most days, just to read the threads and report anything that may have happened etc. As far as photos, I have never posted any.

I use my iPad, so not on the computer much to copy photos onto. Think I would have fun trying to post them!!

  • Thanks Steve and Catlady for posting and your kind wishes, it's great to know there are more folks out there following the forum even if you don't always post.

Catlady I don't know if your aware of it but you can get a card reader to plug into the iPad and there is also a plug to connect to the USB port on a camera to download photos.

Steve as a challenge I'm going to try to post some iPhone stuff on here this year. There's a brilliant slo-mo setting on the phone camera which is much better than the one on my video camera. now all I need is for the Beardies to get close enough!
