Decided the other day to follow the coastal path to Goldcliff. Half way there came across a hide in what appears to be the middle of nowhere overlooking a marshy area. lots of canada geese, widgeon, teal, snipe and lapwings, although you need a scope to view properly. Spent so much time here that we didn't get to Goldcliff but had to turn back. Had the map reference in the hide in case of emergencies 3557 8307 so need now to work out how to get to by road and where to park so that the locals don't have a go at me.
I'm going back to the times when I was driving, I would start at Goldliff and then work my way back up towards Uskmouth, stopping at a few hotspots along the way.
Pulling alongside the road at high tide during the wet winter months would find many ducks and waders across the area where the hide is now located. I'm obviously not there that often these days, but I can understand the placement of the hide.
Hopefully the money will be available, sometime in the future, to further develop the immediate area, maybe some scrapes or similar, I think this was an option at one time before the political changes with the creation of NRW.
Best regardsNigel
