Hi
I have just found out today that I will be coming to Strathbeg for 2 weeks as a residential volunteer on June 15th 2013, I can't wait.
This will be my first residential volunteering experience, any advice would be warmly received.
Thanks, Si.
Hi Si,
Great to hear you're coming up for two weeks. Volunteering in June could involve doing anything- seabird monitoring, some practical work on the reserve, mending tracks and fences or helping out with our summer kids club. The weather can be very changeable so you'll need good waterproofs, warm clothes and suncream- if you're on a clifftop you may need all three on the same day! We've got wellies, binoculars and other kit for volunteers but may be worth bringing your own if they're more comfortable.
You can see some photos of our volunteers at work on the Facebook page- www.facebook.com/.../photos_albums
Someone will be in touch nearer the time with all the details of how and when to get here and a bit more general info about the reserve but do get in touch if you need anything specific.
Looking forward to meeting you in June,
Diana
Thanks Diana, I just can't wait to come up there. I'll do anything you need me to do.
Speak soon
Si
Hi Diana, not long until I'm there now, I can't wait. Is there going to be any other volunteers when I'm there? So looking forward to coming up
Hi,
You'll be the only short term volunteer (at the moment- we do get spaces filled at the last minute) but you will be sharing the house with Iain our intern and there will be day volunteers coming in to help on specific days as well.
Great. Thanks
