Thank you Alan for all you do.
This really makes us realise only days ,before we all start a fresh lot of worrying .
WOW! ALAN That's early, isn't it?
The first UK bird last year was at the end of January.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I am still not convinced about these early sightings. None of the tagged birds have even left yet apart from maybe Ilmar in South Angola. The Dutch sightings page query every sighting in January and February and usually wont accept it without a pic. Also I have not noticed any ospreys in South of France over the migration watch sites yet or even at Gibraltar.
Alan looking at the weather forecast over the next few weeks with sub zero temps, I hope they stay away.

I have had the same thought. It would almost seem as if these early ospreys behave different from the ones we know about.
It would be great to see a tracked osprey that got back early.

Me too Alan and Tiger. Mistaken ID?
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
I saw a bird of prey on Sunday come out of a group of trees about 50ft from me when I was driving and fly down the road in front of me and then veer into the trees again and if I didnt know better I would have said I had spotted a golden eagle! the sheer size and colour on the back which I could see was not that of a buzzard. Mistaken identity very easy especially if you really want to see a particular type of bird.
