    ALAN - Sorry to post on here but you do report other birds sightings. I am just outside SFAX in Tunisia and every morning see flocks of Flamingos flying over in V Formation like we see the geese in Scotland. They also gather at the coast in the salt marshes. Can you advise where these may be coming from or going to obviously on their migration somewhere.

    Keith : Not a great expert on Flamingoes but I did find this info :

    "The movements of the greater flamingo population living in Carmarque in southern France have been closely monitored since 1977.

    • Most flamingos that leave the colony go either southwest to winter in Spain, or southeast to winter in Tunisia and Turkey.

    • The percentage of birds that travel east or west seems to depend on the direction of the prevailing winds in the birds' first autumn. "

    Just rec'd Tweet from Peter Joyce in Vendee, France " An Osprey was spotted today north of me at Saint-Lyphard, Loire-Atlantique, moving north"
