Hi Alan
The Osprey was still at Warnham Nature Reserve, Sussex this morning, we got some good views as it sat across the lake from the reserve and as it fished until it was mobbed so much it went elswhere. Couple of poor pics below.

Shane: As they say the camera does not lie! Thanks and it shows a nice shot, which I missed as the roof of the hide got in the way somewhat......not as bad as the time that the osprey landed on the roof of the hide with all the birders inside who were fuming! :o))

jsb said:some locals seem to believe that for that reason it could be Scandinavian, but there are many unringed Scottish birds still surely
I'm sure I've seen a fairly recent quote from Roy Dennis to the effect that they only manage to ring about half the Scottish juveniles each year - there are so many nests now that they just can't get round them all :-) Assuming, of course, that they even know of every nest, which Roy is quite clear they don't. And, of course, there are a proportion of nests which can't be accessed safely for one reason or another.
I tend to assume the exact opposite, in fact - that an unringed osprey is probably Scottish unless there is very good reason to suppose otherwise.
Rachel: That's what I was driving at, but without the facts to back it up. I think that some birders, who do not read these pages, tend to talk amongst themselves and rumour soon becomes fact.
