This Topic has been set up to follow the Autumn 2012 migration and wintering of satellite tracked ospreys, other than Caledonia and Alba from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread, Tracking Caledonia & Alba
This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Mar-Aug 2012
N.B. There are still some missing details (and possibly birds) which I will add once the information becomes available.
Ilmar now in Angola. Still heading south:
Is Ilmar a juvenile or a mature bird? Just looked at the map he is so far south than the Scottish birds Namibia if he continues will be another desert for him surely?

Info from Helsinki.
"Ilmari was found in Hattula last spring. The bird was fitted with a satellite transmitter in early August"
Therefore an adult, methinks.
Ilmari
EDIT: Correction there are two birds with similar names. Thanks ChloeB

There has been a report that Chip the Rob Bierregarrd osprey on a peculiar journey did not make it but I cannot as yet find the original announcement.
Tiger - Is this something you heard today, I have been taking an interest in these ospreys, and Chip was thought to be still alive on the 15th?

The news was yesterday. See here
Tiger - Thank you, that is so sad, I had hoped the journey would have a happy ending :(
What a shame Tiger. Mind you, it was not looking too brilliant for him was it?
