This Topic has been set up to follow the Autumn 2012 migration and wintering of satellite tracked ospreys, other than Caledonia and Alba from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread, Tracking Caledonia & Alba
This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Mar-Aug 2012
N.B. There are still some missing details (and possibly birds) which I will add once the information becomes available.
UPDATE ON FIDDICH BELOW So relieved she is safely thru the desert and to a food source
Unfortunately, Fiddich’s transmitter is failing to give GPS reading but the non GPSreadings show that she has made her first crossing of the Sahara and reached the Senegal River. She covered 2000 km since entering North Algeria on 22nd, on 26th September she was over the Mauritanian desert 500 km east of Nouakchott. On 28th she was on the banks of the River Senegal at Matam and two days had flown west and was on wetlands NW of Louga in Senegal
to me always the most important is LG and UK nests and is anyone intersted in Hellgate. They are not sure where there birds go from another nest. A first and they are not sure where they go and I am interested and no chance of adding to tracking but very interesting.
My priority is Caledonia and Alba but this also interests me and they do not know where they go :)
Tempo,I hope so much and she is through the desert and hope she is ok Tempo
It looks like she is B&B - was worried about her and also concerned on Stan - not sure I like him where he is with all that water around him and his tendancy to fly west or south west.
Fiddich has been updated - moved 20km down riverand Red8T reached his exclusive mangroves at 1900H on the 23rd September. Nothing on Stan yet or Fearna

I have got to go now but it sems to me that Fiddich may have passed Ceulan. Worth checking up on.
Tiger Signature
Phew ! hooray in regards to Fiddich . I'm sure Stan is OK , he's island hopping isn't he but he's been to the mainland so he knows which direction is which.
Is someone saying Caledonia has moved on ???
have to get ready for work shortly, my hours have changed
Stan hasnt been to the mainland Cirrus - he landed on one of the larger islands and is island hopping to what I think is the most westerly island in the group - heading away from mainland Africa.
Tiger - will have to leave it to experts to see how close Fiddich and Ceulan were - I know in theory it looks close but to my untrained eye and useless ability I wouldnt dare give an opinion :) However, glad she is through and at water.
Hi Cirrus! I hope the changed hours are not for the worse. Hi everyone else!
I would love to put the US birds onto GE but my head won't accommodate them. Well, we'll see ;-)
I almost said "It's a pity that the Hellgate juvies are not tagged". It's very uncomfortable here on the fence ;-)
Thank you for all the updates, what a relief that there has been no more sadness, keep safe all our birds.

If it's any comfort I'll keep my fingers crossed too, TEMPO :-) Got everything crossed all the time!
