Thanks JSB. These movements look even less hopeful than the ones from Leri s transmitter. I guess we will never know unless someone is able to retrieve the transmitter.

So very sorry to learn of 09 - was a particular favourite of mine. I find it awful that he travelled so far and to die in such a harsh area. There has to be some kind of human involvement with this tragedy.
Oh, I just can't bear it , a favourite of mine also TEMPO
HIREATH
as Emyr would say
Tempo said: There has to be some kind of human involvement with this tragedy.
I would normally think so but not in this case I suspect as there may not be any humans in the area.
Tiger Signature
Tiger I thought the village was not too far away? What else could have happened to him - surely an experienced bird like him would not succumb to exhaustion that he would know if he needed to break off unlike the juveniles who just seem to plough on regardless of risk of exhaustion. My thinking was that if that village had any kind of livestock they could be travelling with them and may have spotted 09 and harmed him as a raptor to anyone not knowing ospreys would mean that they might attack the livestock. Just a thought and I know I am very new to following the ospreys.
Has anyone checked on 09(98)'s feeding/fishing on the way south? He could have starved due to lack of fish or died from lead poisoning, which was one theory for Lady's close call in June 2010. Poisonous lead used by fishermen, could be ingested by an osprey, or anything else that a fish may have eaten accidentally.
JSB Do you think that 9 (98) might have flown into the side of the ridge? It seems a bit unlikely but maybe possible.
