Rachel: Sometimes, as in this case I am prompting responses, to keep the thread interesting to readers. By the way...... Your pals at SWT seem to have a couple of lazybones, as has RD with three, Red 8T, Stan and Fiddich. That's all we have left on the starting blocks.

jsb and rachel thanks for the info and trust me you have kept the readers interested :) im sure ceulan will be ok being within sight of land will help him that if he needs to change course at all he can do so :) and I think you could be right about swt having lazybones although it might be that lewis may have left now.  guess we will just have to wait for them to catch up the others now if thats true

The GPS data has him, 11deg E of due south, whereas my guess was 180 deg based on his track. So if the GPS is the one to take he should see land even sooner. The GPS is a snapshot so may be influenced by zig-zagging in flight.

At 10m above the sea, that restricts him to a horizon of radius formula which gives 10.3Km.

This tells us how far he can see.

There are rumblings on the LotL thread that Blue44 has left. I wonder.

09(98) news, in Cantabria, Spain, as now shown on GE. Spreadsheet has this news already, 37 miles from Santander.
