Sat track schedule Spring 2014
LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies
Only two hours after the last update, Lucky has another report made on his position, now on the south coast today. The are two websites reporting on him, Flickr (usually the first with the news Alan tells me) and Facebook, hence the two reports in quick succession. At the foot of the spreadsheet, the Facebook link is given as an alternate.
Wow, Bynack is back, or is he, I certainly hope so. Also a stunning performance from Alba, gold medal for endurance, Caledonia is doing OK in the Spanish Mountains!
SWT ospreys are exploring the areas around the nests.
Copy of SheilaFE's post, with thanks. I have to go out now, so will update spreadsheet later, when possibly RD will have had a chance to update, but as you will see he is moving house today!
"Update I found on FB, quoting RD:
Roy's website has been updated and two of the four juveniles he has satellite tagged have left (one is Fearna).
"The new young ospreys have started to migrate for Africa – we have satellite tagged four juveniles this summer during our ringing studies. The new birds are Aigan and Fiddich from East Moray, Stan from West Moray and Fearna from Badenoch. Two have just left – yesterday Aigan flew from Moray to the Isle of Man and earlier Fearna flew from near Loch Insh to the Borders via Glasgow. Maps below but each bird will have dedicated pages later today hopefully (but we are moving house today) and more details of their histories."
RD
jsb : Thanks for the news of Roys 4 juveniles. I think that is 10 juveniles with transmitters this year so plenty to follow throughout the winter.
Thank you JSB Good Luck to all of them and hopes that they can supply valuable data, most especially to try and protect them in Africa
The list has changed a lot in the last 24 hours. I have not read any posts yet, so there may be more information that I can add/change tomorrow. RD new juveniles are added, with any other changes that I am aware of at present.
Alan: Yes, I too make it 10 juveniles in 2012, so far. I have marked them (J) for reference.
Those of us who have seen the news this evening, will have seen the serious fires in Southern Spain. So I would imagine that many migrating ospreys will have made detours, to avoid that area.
I so certainly hope they have been avoiding that area!!! my sister is in southern france today and was evacuated from her caravan due to forest fires with planes dropping water etc. Quite scary really. all ok now and once I knew that she was, I then thought of Alba and Caledonia! hope they are both safe and well.
It will be really interesting to see what tagged birds do, particularly as Beatrice might have taken such avoiding action.

Beatrice is back among the orange groves, nothing else to report!
Usually something happens just after I make a post! So let's wait and see.
