This thread has been set up to follow the travels of Caledonia and Alba, the young ospreys raised at Loch Garten in 2012.
Their mother is “EJ”, the resident female at Loch Garten since 2003; there is some doubt about the identity of their biological father, given EJ’s dalliance with a male from a neighbouring nest, Blue XD, both before and after the return of her regular partner Odin, who raised them.
Caledonia hatched on 16th May and Alba on 18th May; they both fledged on 14th July.
This is a link to the Loch Garten blog describing the ringing and satellite tagging.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. Alba’s is Blue/White AA2, reading upwards.
Following the tracking
This page gives a quick overview of the routes on a map, which will be more useful once they start migrating.
If you want to look at the routes in more detail on Google Earth, this page contains instructions on setting up your PC to do this.
This blog contains some useful information about how the tracking works – we are now on a 3-day reporting period.

Possibly for years.
I was also thinking that this is possibly the first example of a juvenile osprey moulting that we have seen.

Roberto, I made a comment here about the possibility of Caledonia seeing in the next few weeks some adult ospreys migrating north. Her nearest satellite tagged neighbour is Beatrice, who is presently on the River Guadiaro, just to the south of you. Beatrice left the same river in 2012 at 8.30am on the 3rd March.

Sorry to be a copy-cat, but "THANK YOU, ROBERTO!".
IMAGICAT
Again fantastic photographs of her Roberto - very envious of you I have to say that she is so close to you. Again adding my thanks for your watch over her.
Further thanks from me Roberto, both for the pictures and the clear explanation about the moulting of Caledonia's primaries. I hadn't known what the process was before. Great that she continues to do well and is progressing as she should
Caledonia has been updated on Google Earth to 21.02.2013. Little change. Fishing and roosting as before. Appears to be very well settled.
Thanks Alan.
Caledonia's fishing spots in town this week, either side of La Barqueta bridge.
The days that Roberto saw and photographed her were the 15th, eating a fish and the 20th, fishing.
Thank you ALAN and SUE. It's wonderful to be able to 'see' where she is, and to know she continues to be happy in Seville.

Found this film on Youtube of a good place for spotting Caley fishing.
This floating boardwalk now runs along the shore beside the wooded section shown above - it seems to be newish, and not shown on GE.
The gardens here formed part of the Expo 92 site. The film shows a lock; as far as I can make out, the commentary is saying that water is let in to replenish the lake in La Isla Magica.
Clever you SUE C finding the film AND for understanding what was being said. Nice to see the area "live" Thanks
